Management of Kamuzu Barracks (KB) has dissolved the TNM Super League team’s Executive Committee with effect from Tuesday.
The team’s Patron, Mabvuto Chimbayo, yesterday confirmed to have dissolved the Gift Njete-led committee which won the 2017 Fisd Challenge Cup and the 2016 TNM Super League champions for the first time in the Malawi Defence Force’s (MDF) history.
“Indeed, we have dissolved the committee after we discovered that some members had stayed for more years in their respective positions. In addition, there were gaps in the committee as some members were dormant, so we will begin the new season with a fresh committee,” Chimbayo said.
Details have emerged that the committee has been dissolved because it was paying players game bonuses, which is in contrary to other MDF teams.
However, Chimbayo dismissed the reports, saying it was normal to dissolve a committee.
He could not disclose the exact date when the club would elect new office bearers.
The outgoing committee had Njete as Chairperson with Michael Chamaele as General Secretary. Francis Shaba was part of the committee and has been transferred to Chilumba Barracks.
KB failed to defend the league title after finishing on position eight with 42 points in the just-ended season.
KB have also suffered a major blow as Coach, Billy Phambala, has been banned for next season’s first-round after being found guilty of misconduct during last season’s league game against Blue Eagles.
