The organisers announced the news development on Friday.

The announcement of the venue has attracted mixed reactions from people, with some feeling Kamuzu Stadium is not convenient to stage such a festival.

“They have misfired on this. Kamuzu Stadium is not a good venue for such a festival,” one fan said.

Another fan Khwima Longwe said the target audience, venue and pricing were not matching.

Some even went further to suggest that the organisers will lose out and that they could have held the festival in Lilongwe.

But Nyasa Music Group Director, James Makunje, said Kamuzu Stadium is convenient and secure.

“We looked around and settled for Kamuzu Stadium which is secure. We are excited to have the Nyasa Music Festival and all we can say is that people should brace for nothing but the best,” Makunje, said.

The entry fee for the three– day package is K32,000 for advance and K40,000 on the door while for VIP it is K45,000 for advance and K55,000 for VIP on the door.

The day’s ticket is K15,000 for advance and K20,000 on the door.

“We have made sure that the entry fee is affordable to everyone. People will also save, especially those based in Blantyre, because they don’t have to spend on transport and accommodation as they do with festivals that happen along the lake,” Makunje said.

The last international act to be announced by the organisers is Prince Kaybee, the ‘Charlotte’ hit maker and original club controller.

“We want this festival and brand to be recognised internationally. Last year we brought Somizi from South Africa, who hosted the awards and he has helped to open the international gates,” Makunje said.

The international line-up has been dominated by artists from South Africa.

Apart from AKA and Prince Kay Bee, other international artists set to perform at the festival are DJ Noxx, DJ Kaygee, Nasty and Busiswa.

To be hosted by Blak Jak and Super DT, the festival has also attracted local acts such as Fredokiss, DJ Nathan Tunes, Gwamba, Faith Mussa, Kell Kay, Malinga Mafia, Bossaro Music Group, Patience Namadingo, DJ Reubie, Macelba and DJ Flame.

Having held Nyasa Music Awards in the past two years, Makunje said the awards would come later in the year but now it was time to give people a treat with the festival.
