Karonga United have dissolved the team’s executive committee as part of preparations to turn commercial before the TNM Super League kicks-off.

The Northern Region-based outfit’s general secretary Ramsey Simwaka Thursday said the Mathews Tulombolombo-led committee has been dissolved as the club plans to get registered as a company.

Following the dissolution of the committee, Simwaka said stakeholders would meet on Sunday to strategise on the way forward.

“Currently the committee has been dissolved to concentrate on our plans. This is a community club and we want their input. They will guide us on whether we should go by the old system. It is our wish that Karonga United should be run as a business entity. The outcome of the meeting will determine our next course of action,” Simwaka said.

Simwaka said turning commercial would strengthen the club in its quest to become the first Northern Region side to win the league championship.

“We have assembled a squad that can compete for honours. The coaches and players are on the ground preparing for the new season. We have no doubt that this season will be one of the best for us,” Simwaka said.

In January, Karonga United hired Zimbabwean mentor Lazarus Magaya, who also had a stint at Botswana Premier League side Gaborone United.

Magaya replaced Dan Dzinkambani, who dumped the Lakeshore side in December.
