Karonga United focus on defence
Karonga United have tightened their leaky defence ahead of Sunday’s meeting against TNM Super League defending champions, Be Forward Wanderers, at Balaka Stadium.
Karonga Coach, Christopher Nyambose, said he paid more attention to his defence in view of two consecutive league defeats by Red Lions and Civil Sporting Club.
“Most of our midfielders were injured and I was improvising players. Players such as Green Msowoya, Azizi Mwakifuna and Brian Phiri were injured. This greatly affected our performance. We were able to score but we could not defend,” Nyambose said.
Karonga may be motivated going into Sunday’s match as the Nomads are not at their best, having lost 2-0 to Tigers on Tuesday.
Karonga are on eighth position with four points from four games whereas Wanderers lie sixth with seven points from four matches.
Karonga have won once, drawn once and lost twice whereas the Nomads won twice, drew once and suffered one defeat.
Wanderers Coach, Yasin Osman, has since been given a five-game ultimatum to win.
