Kasasa golfers triumph

Kasasa Golf Club members Hassan Fazili and Lusayo Sibale won a fundraising golf tournament that took place in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota District, on Saturday.

Fazili scooped the first position in the men’s category after amassing 35 points whereas Sibale was the winner in ladies category with 32 points.

Fazili said he was delighted to carry the day for the first time.

“I put a great effort in this tournament and I am happy to emerge the winner among experienced golfers. I should also thank my sponsors, Wheel Masters, for their support. Without them, I would not have achieved this,” Fazili said.

Sibale also hoped the win would encourage other up-and-coming golfers to excel in the sport.

Fazili and Sibale received a gas stove and a set of kitchen pots, respectively.

In other prizes, Lilongwe golfer Audra Bester won the longest drive in the ladies category whereas Victor Mangochi from Kasasa scooped the first position in men’s category.

Dwangwa Round Table 69 organised the tournament to raise funds for their projects.

The group’s chairperson, Peter Piringu, commended companies for sponsoring the event.

“We are happy that everything has gone as planned. We did not expect such an overwhelming response from companies as well as golfers. Money realised will go towards transforming other peoples’ lives,” Piringu said.

Over 30 golfers, including those from Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu, took part in the competition.
