President Lazarus Chakwera Tuesday commended churches for preaching hope as the country is going through socioeconomic challenges.
Chakwera was speaking when he attended a church service at Fountain of Victory Church International in Blantyre.
He urged the church to continue praying for the success and prosperity of the country.
“People out there trust us, religious leaders, so we must continue preaching hope and unity because that is what they expect from us. We cannot be in the forefront preaching divisions and disunity.
“We must preach hope where there is no hope and inspire our children to achieve even more of what we have because God’s blessings come in multitudes. In any case, the next generation must be more blessed not cursed,” the President said.
President and Founder of the church, Joseph Ziba, picked Philippians 2 verses 12 to 13 and Acts Chapter 9 verse 33 from where he encouraged Malawians to individually play their roles in the development of the country.
“You have to rise and take a step towards what you want. The country will develop as a whole if you individually develop yourselves,” Ziba said.
Established in 2012, Fountain of Victory Church International has over 70 branches across the country and churches in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, the United Kingdom the Republic of Ireland and the Philippines.
Chakwera is in Blantyre where, among other assignments, he is expected to grace the National Anti- Corruption Conference taking place today and Tuesday.
