As part of giving people something different, singer and guitarist Kefasi has done a live recording session project with his band Panamwendo.

The artist, who has held shows in Blantyre including starring at the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session at Jacaranda Cultural Centre, said Thursday that the live recording session is a result of his being hungry for live performances.

The live session features songs such as ‘Sitileteje’.

“I have done this live session firstly because I want to meet the demand that the type of music I do require and that’s a live set. Secondly, it is the hunger for a live performance with a band after staying for a long time on a break due to Covid,” Kefasi said.

He said he planned to have a concert in March last year but the show was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“So, this is all about satisfying that musical hunger to keep myself in shape and bridge the space of not being able to perform. I would have switched to having the concert online but resources then didn’t permit,” Kefasi said.

He said through this live recording, he also wants to promote his music.

“With this project, I am hoping that afro jazz music lovers and my fans will be able to appreciate the work,” the musician said.

Kefasi said he has not given up on an online show in these difficult times of Covid.

“I have a number of plans this year and I just pray that the situation should normalise. The pandemic has affected us greatly. One of the things I want to do is to launch an Extended Playlist in June, work on a small documentary of my biography and come up with an acoustic set live content,” he said.
