Scotland-based Flames defender Keiran Ngwenya has joined Scottish League Two side Kelty Hearts FC on loan for the rest of the season.
Ngwenya has struggled for game time at Scottish League one side Aberdeen FC despite impressing in SPFL Trust Trophy wins over Bora Rangers and Arbroath.
Aberdeen confirmed on their official website that the 18-year-old defender will spend the 2021/22 season on loan.
Aberdeen manager Neil Simpson also praised the Flames defender.
“Keiran is a player who has real potential and this loan spell will only aid his continued development. I’m sure he will reap the benefits of regular game time, in a competitive league, whilst also continuing to train with the first team here.”
In March this year, Ngwenya also moved on loan to Cove Rangers in Scottish League One and made seven appearances.
Ngwenya made his Flames debut in an international friendly against Tanzania in which Malawi lost 2-0 in June this year.
However, the left back did not take part in back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon and Mozambique due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Malawi lost 2-0 to Cameroon away before beating Mozambique 1-0 at Orlando Stadium in South Africa.
Flames Coach Meck Mwase was also optimistic that Ngwenya will have game time at Hearts.
“It will be important for him to play regularly. He is a good player and he has bright future,” Mwase said.
The 18 year old Flames defender made his Aberdeen debut in a league win over Ross County in December 2020.
