Kelvin Sato geared for fourth album launch

After a three-year break, Mzuzu-based gospel singer, Kelvin Sato, is back with a fourth album Moyo Wanga 4. The launch is scheduled for Boma Park in Mzuzu on August 27.

Sato has since called for support to the music fest, which artists from the Southern and Central regions will grace.

“The album project, which started in October2015, has finally ended and the product is more mature. It is a testimony of my experiences throughout this 12-year journey in music,” Sato said.

The launch, he said, also serves as a litmus test for him since he has not invited big-name artists.

“The album fuses various music genres deliberately to accommodate a variety of people, but it carries a single theme which is a testimony of my life. Ever since I joined the music industry, I have always used Moyo Wanga Yesu as my album’s title because it’s a testimony of where God took me from. Raised by a single parent and a housewife was not easy,” Sato said.

Produced by five different producers, the album features other artists like Eliza Mponya, Joseph Chirwa, Brenda Kadammanja and Chrispine Kamanga.

“I have invited veteran musician, Wycliffe Chimwendo, for the sake of the old-timers, Confidence Voices and Shonga Spirituals have been roped in for those that are into choirs while the youthful generation will be treated to performances by Ta Mika, Griffin Kaliati and Eliz Mponya,” he said.

Asked on whether people should expect a DVD of the 10-track album, the ‘Ntchito ya Yehova’ hitmaker said it will be one of his major projects in 2018.

For now, his concentration is on taking his launch to Blantyre and Lilongwe in December.
