Ken Msonda fired for associating with Kachali
Opposition People’s Party (PP) has fired its Administrative Secretary Ken Msonda for his alleged association with its former vice president and a member of the party Khumbo Kachali.
He has since been replaced with his deputy Joseph Chikwemba.
Both Msonda and party Secretary General Ibrahim Matola confirmed the development saying it was a normal restructuring process within the party leadership.
Msonda was acting in that position since the party fired its administrative secretary Reverend Peter Kaleso.
Msonda is now holding the party’s spokesperson position only.
Inside sources confided in The Daily Times that Msonda was holding secret meetings with Kachali, a development that did not please the party leadership.
He confirmed meeting Kachali once after the party leadership asked him to help sort out the wrangles between its members from the north with the new leadership of Uladi Mussa.
Msonda said he did not see anything wrong with his action because he was assigned to do so.
“I have said it time and again that we are living on earth where lies and unfounded allegations are the order of the day. It is only in heaven where everything said and done is the truth,” said Msonda.
But he insisted that he voluntarily resigned after noticing “tough” politics within the leadership. He refused to give details.
“I am a foot soldier. They cannot fire me. But I resigned. I am the one who proposed Mr Chikwemba to take my position. I cannot disclose more why I resigned because it is an in-house matter. I joined the PP on January 10, 2012 because I shared with its policies, ideologies and objectives. I was convinced under Dr Joyce Banda’s leadership that the party had a future,” said Msonda.
The former PP Provincial Chairperson for the North, Reverend Christopher Ngwira is on record having told Msonda to resign as administrative secretary after he took over the position from Kaleso, who was also fired for supporting the idea that the party should have a caretaker in the absence of its president.
The committee proposed Kachali to act on the position of Banda but he was rejected.
