Ken Msonda queries Pac conference theme

Delegates at Public Affairs Committee (Pac) 5+1 All Inclusive Stakeholders Conference underway at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre Wednesday booed Democratic Progressive Party’s Ken Nsonda for demanding that the agenda and theme of the conference be changed.

Msonda was reacting to Pac Chairperson Reverend Felix Chingota’s address in which he expressed frustration on lack of progress on the resolutions made during Pac’s 2016 indaba.

Nsonda said it was surprising that what Chingota presented in his remarks was not in line with the theme of the conference which reads, ‘The State of Governance and Public Trust: Reclaiming our Destiny’.

“In February last year, we convened here where we came up with resolutions to be presented to government. I was expecting that during this meeting, Pac will give us a report on whatever transpired from those resolutions. From there, we will see what has been answered or not and we move forward. It will not make sense if we make other resolutions in this meeting while we don’t know where we are with the other resolutions,” Nsonda said.

Msonda’s concerns were, however, answered by moderator of the conference who is also Pac vice-chairperson Osman Karim, who said the meeting would look at what Nsonda presented as a concern.

“That is perhaps why we have convened again to check if the resolutions you are referring to were implemented or not and I am sure that will be answered by the delegates themselves as we are moving forward,” he said.

Msonda’s demand was shot down and the conference is proceeding with the same theme.
