The Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrates’ Court has charged United Democratic Front spokesperson Ken Ndanga and Kassim Hassan with murder.
The two are accused of petrol bombing a UTM Party office in Lilongwe, leading to deaths of three family members.
The attack also left three children seriously injured.
Ndanga was arrested on Thursday last week.
According to a charge sheet which The Daily Times has seen, Ndanga and Hassan are answering a charge of petrol bombing the office in May 2020.
The office housed Selemani Tambala’s family and the bombing led to the death of Alice, Shukulani and Adyusa Tambala.
Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Msekendiwana has since committed the matter to the High Court.
Last week, police also arrested Mussa Dayton, 34, from Chitalo Village, Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka District in connection with the incident. The case was also committed to the High Court last week.
Meanwhile, police have impounded four vehicles suspected to have been used during the attack.
Ndanga was the fifth person to be nabbed by the law enforcers who have promised more arrests.
A relation to the deceased, Mercy Wyson, welcomed the arrests, saying they would help the family to find answers for questions regarding the incident.
