Kenneth Kaunda pays tribute to Kamuzu
Former president of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, on Friday visited the Mausoleum of Malawi’s founding president Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
Kaunda, who was accompanied by Zambia’s High Commissioner, Salome Mwananshiku, arrived at the Mausoleum around noon.
After alighting from his vehicle, he touched the head of one official at the mausoleum with his traditional white handkerchief, before proceeding to lay a wreath on Banda’s tomb.
His memories of Banda were summarised in the comments he wrote in the Visitors’ Book: “HK served Africa to the best of his life. We still remember in peace what he did for us all. May HK rest at the feet of our loved God Almighty”.
Kaunda arrived in the country on Thursday on a private visit.
