FLASHBACK—Keturah performs at JCC

Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) Director Luc Deschamps said Monday that musician Keturah’s album, which she recorded in United States of America (USA) in July, is underway and that it will come out early 2023.

Deschamps, who is also French Honorary Consul alongside his wife Marie Da Silva, who is Jacaranda School for Orphans founder, made it possible for Keturah to travel to USA to record the songs.

“We are about to start working on the artwork and music videos and, then, we will be looking at the launch,” he said.

Several renowned musicians worked on Keturah’s upcoming album and they include Jason Tamba, Mermans Mosengo, Kaveh Rastegar, Prince Diabate, Chris Tuttle, Mickey Raphael, Rocky Dawuni, Jamael Dean and Magatte Sow, a Senegalese percussionist who won a Grammy award for his music on Black Panther and performs with Angelique Kidjo.

Grammy nominated producer Harlan Steinberger, who recorded Keturah’s album, has described Keturah as talented and extremely professional and that she is a great ambassador for Malawi.

Steinberger is the owner of state-of-the-art recording studio Hen House in USA.

Keturah said Monday that she was patiently waiting for the album.

“People will enjoy the songs for sure. It was such an experience in USA and working with such amazing people is something special. I am still relishing the USA trip because it was the first time I went outside the country, the first time to go to America and the first time to be in a plane,” she said.

Her trip to USA is like an answer to her song ‘Munditengereko’ where she asks her uncle to take her to town and outside the country.
