Kinnah Phiri gives Flames chance
Former Malawi national football team coach, Kinnah Phiri, says the Flames have a chance of beating Guinea during the second leg of 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers Tuesday at Kamuzu Stadium.
Kinnah told The Daily Times that the 0-0 draw with Guinea at their backyard on Friday during the Group L clash, gives the Flames an upper hand. He predicted the Flames’ qualification to Afcon finals.
“Getting a draw at their home ground was not an easy task, therefore, the Flames need to work hard to beat them at Kamuzu Stadium,” said on Saturday the current Tanzania’s Mbeya City FC coach.
And commenting on his employers in Tanzania, Kinnah said he had improved Mbeya from position 20, when he took over, to eight on the log table.
“Clubs are run professionally, they have offices, good transport, good grounds, good management set-up and above all, most teams such as Simba, Yanga and Azam, have foreign players. This is good because it creates competition,” he said.
