Coach Kinnah Phiri has hailed the impact of compatriots, Sankhani Mkandawire and Owen Chaima, at Tanzania Vodacom League side, Mbeya City Council FC.
“The team is doing well, so far so good. Sankhani and Chaima are both doing well. Chaima managed to keep three clean sheets in five games [including cups], which is a very good performance for a goalkeeper,” Kinnah said.
“Sankhani is a pillar of our defence and he was chosen in the first 11 of Tanzanian Vodacom league of the month by the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF).”
Mkandawire and Chaima are on a season-long loan at Mbeya from Nyasa Big Bullets.
Mbeya drew 0-0 against rivals Prison United on Sunday in a game that saw Chaima keeping a third clean sheet.
Mbeya are sixth on the 18-member log table with seven points after posting two wins, two draws and losing once. Simba lead on 13 points whereas bottom-placed Maji Maji are winless in five games.
