Kinnah Phiri mum on future
Former Flames coach Kinnah Phiri is elusive on his future at Mzuni FC where his contract as technical adviser ends this month.
Phiri joined Mzuni in October and he successfully helped the struggling rookies survive relegation.
Mzuni escaped the drop by virtue of having a better goal difference than relegated Dedza Young Soccer after tying at 29 points.
Phiri helped guide Mzuni to four wins in six matches, including a shock 3-0 victory over Be Forward Wanderers.
Phiri yesterday said he had not yet decided his next move amid interest from other teams, including his childhood club, Big Bullets.
“I will not say anything now. I will reveal about my next move in January after I make a decision. We had a good working relationship and I enjoyed my stay. The most important thing is that I achieved what I wanted. I went there to rescue them from relegation and together we achieved it. We will see what the future brings,” he said.
Phiri joined Mzuni after he was sacked by South African Premier Soccer League side, Free State Stars in August.
Mzuni chairperson, Albert Harawa, said the club was hoping to keep Phiri at the club.
“We are currently holding negotiations with him. We are hopeful we will maintain him so that he should help us in the rebuilding process next season. His experience and wisdom have been significant to the team’s survival,” he said.
