Pressure is mounting on Kukoma Diamonds following their unconvincing performances in the GOtv Netball Champions League round robin matches played in Mzuzu over the weekend.
Diamonds Assistant Coach, Noel Mussa, has admitted that the loss to Civonets (30-29) and a 26-26 draw against Mafco Soldiers in Mzuzu, have unsettled the previously undefeated champions.
Mussa, whose side defeated Mimosa on Sunday, said the results were a wake-up call ahead of the GOtv final round matches against Civonets in Lilongwe.
“Maybe we relaxed too much. We were taking our opponents for granted and we ended up losing our first match in the competition. We then drew, making matters worse for us,” he said.
Mussa warned Diamonds players to change their attitude if they were to win the title.
“We need to approach each game seriously. We need to rebuild our confidence and avoid succumbing to pressure,” he added.
After the preliminary round results, Diamonds will meet Civonets in the final whereas Blue Eagles date Mafco Soldiers in a third/ fourth place play-off.
Blantyre based giants, Thunder Queens and Tigresses have been relegated to fifth/ sixth-place play-off battle whereas Northern Region sides, Mimosa Queens and Lameck Queens, will clash in position seven/eight play-off.
