Local netball giants, Kukoma Diamonds, are expected to re-unite with goalkeeper-cum-defender Towera Vinkhumbo-Nyirenda following her return from England.
Vinkhumbo-Nyirenda’s debut season at Severn Stars in the Vitality Netball Superleague in the United Kingdom was cut short after it was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Diamonds Chairperson Lumbani Mtonyo said they expect the Malawi national netball team player to rejoin the team after completing her contract.
“We recently held talks and we agreed that she will rejoin the team when sport return in the country. She completed her contract and she is now back to her team [Diamonds],” she said.
Vinkhumbo-Nyirenda could not be reached for her comment.
However, she was one of Malawi’s three players in the VNL, together Joyce Mvula and Lauren Ngwira.
Meanwhile, Mtonyo said the club also intends to beef up the squad to continue dominating the local scene.
“I can’t go into details now but we have some targets whom we want to give a trial. All this will be outlined later,” she said.
