Three lady golfers will head to Tanzania next month to represent Malawi at the All Africa Ladies’ Challenge golf tournament.
The three are captain Roza Mbilizi, Doreen Kavala and Fortune Lee.
They will fight for glory with competitors from 26 countries in a tournament scheduled to start from September 3 to 8.
Ladies Golf Union of Malawi President Stella Ng’oma said they picked the three from qualifying tournaments which started in May.
Ng’oma said preparations for the continental showpiece are on course.
“Our target is to see team Malawi making the top 10. We understand that our colleagues are way ahead of us in the game and that most of the participating countries will send their professionals which we do not have.
“So we are banking on the three to make us proud. We have devised a winning strategy which will see us through,” she said.
Kavala said she is ready for the tournament.
“I have been training and I am confident of doing well. I have been using interclub tournaments as part of my practicing rounds.
“I believe it is possible to finish in the top five since we have strong players who are determined to bring good results,” she said.
This will be the first time for Malawi to participate in the continental tournament which started in May 1992.
