Lafarge Holcim says it has put in place a business work strategy to achieve zero accident rate by 2025.
This follows the launch of a two-week Health and Safety campaign at its head office in Malawi’s commercial capital, Blantyre, which brought together all its members of staff and business partners.
The strategy, according to Lafarge Holcim Malawi Chief Executive Officer, Albert Sigei, comes hot on the heels of news that its workforce globally continue to get injured or die in the process of work or as they travel to ferry product, to various outlets.
“We want to ensure that our workforce is safe and provide solutions even at a time when they know that the environment they operate in is not safe,” Sigei said.
He said during these two weeks, Lafarge Holcim Malawi will ensure that its staff, police and contractors, including other business partners, are sensitised on matters to do with safety measures.
