Lake of Stars Fest in planning stages

By Sam Banda Jnr:

Having successfully celebrated 15th anniversary last year where they held a number of activities before the main course at Kabumba Hotel in Salima, organisers of the Lake of Stars Festival have said they will announce dates and venues for 2019 when they are ready.

Last year, Lake of Stars Festival came out early to announce dates for the festival before revealing the venue later.

The festival organised a Set It Off show at Chancellor College in Zomba in January, which featured female acts, before hosting Lake of Stars London and Scotland in March.

“Surely, 2018 was a big year for Lake of Stars Festival as we were able to introduce new events as well as celebrate 15 successful years of our flagship product,” the festival’s spokesperson, Zilanie Gondwe, said Tuesday.

Gondwe said they have plans to continue on this path.

“We are in the planning stages as we continue our conversations with our partners and funders,” she said.

Gondwe added: “As always, we are keeping things hush hush for now but when the time is right we will announce the much anticipated news on the dates and venues for our 2019 events”.

The festival last year surprised people when it went for a new venue – Kabumba in Salima moving away from the other renowned venues.

“People should be prepared to be surprised,” she said.

Last year, the festival was headlined by acts such as Sauti Sol from Kenya, Major Lazor from United States of America, Faith Mussa, Daughters Band and Azania Band.
