Lake of Stars to make comeback in May 2023

After recently announcing a no show this year, organisers of Lake of Stars (LoS) Festival have announced that they will hold a two-day event in May next year.
Lake of Stars Festival Spokesperson and Head of Media Zilanie Gondwe said Monday that people can look forward to a festive May adding that LoS has a new date on May 26-27 2023.
Gondwe could not come out clear on whether they have completely shifted the festival from September to May.
“Instead of folks waiting for a whole year, they can look forward to a festive May. This is the first return of LoS and we look forward to giving fans an exciting and memorable experience, the first among many,” she said.
Gondwe said this was their good news to the people for now adding that the venue and artists’ announcements will start in January 2023.
“As you can see, we are already showing you that LoS has undergone changes. So, the date change is part of that and so is the two-day experience,” she said.
The festival has in the past years been held for three days.
Lake of Stars Festival’s move comes barely a week after Blantyre Arts Festival also announced that it would be holding a free festival for two days this year at Njamba Freedom Park.
The last time Lake of Stars Festival took place was in 2019 at Kachere Castle in Nkhata Bay.
Lake of Stars Festival the brainchild of Will Jameson started in 2004 at Chintheche Inn in Nkhata Bay before moving to Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima and later Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi.
Some of the artists who have performed at the festival include Freshlyground and Mafikizolo from South Africa, Mokoomba and the late Oliver Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe, Sauti Sol from Kenya and The Very Best which has Malawi’s Esau Mwamwaya.
Some of the local acts that have performed at Lake of Stars include Black Missionaries, Peter Mawanga, Tay Grin, Lazarus Chigwandali, Skeffa Chimoto, Soldier Lucius Banda and Maskal, who is currently based in United States of America.
