At least nine local coaches are expected to hone skills from Spanish La Liga experts through virtual workshops between April 21 and May 12.
This follows the partnership between Council for Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) and LaLiga which was signed in 2020.
The nine local coaches are among 84 football coaches from Southern Africa and Ethiopia.
Malawi Women’s National Football Team Coach Mcnerbert Kazuwa, Malawi Unde-20 Women’s Assistant Coach Maggie Chombo, Carol Phiri, Davie Mpima and Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Director John Kaputa will attend the master class session.
The session, aimed at grassroots coaches, will be conducted by Juan Florit, head of LaLiga Football Programmes, and Saul Vasquez Chas, LaLiga Senior Specialist in Football Projects Development.
TNM Super League debutants Ekwendeni Hammers Coach Etison Kadenge Mwafulirwa, Sungeni Msiska, Scolastika Khunga, Chisomo Nkhoma and Kaputa will attend the club sessions on April 28 and May 12.
The course will focus on preparation of squads for international competitions and development of grassroots squads.
Kaputa, who will attend both sessions by virtue of being TD, was hopeful that the local coaches would gain valuable knowledge.
“It a good opportunity for us. It is our hope that we will learn new things,” he said.
