Last consignment of ballot papers for the May 21 Tripartite Elections arrived Tuesday through Kamuzu International Airport (Kia) in Lilongwe.
The papers that arrived from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are for presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking after the arrival of the ballot papers, Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) Chief Elections Officer, Sam Alfandika, told journalists that they would ensure that stakeholders were satisfied with the management of the ballot papers.
“We have witnessed the arrival of the last consignment of the ballot papers for next week’s elections. We will allow the parties and all stakeholders to inspect them before distributing them to the districts,” Alfandika said.
Speaking on their impressions of the management of the ballot papers on arrival, Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace Coordinator, Boniface Chibwana, said he was satisfied with the way Mec is handling the ballots.
Malawi Defence Force officers are protecting the ballot papers.
