Musician Lawi takes to the stage Saturday to launch his album titled Thirties at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, where he is expected to share the stage with South African veteran artist PJ Powers.
Lawi said Thursday that, having first launched the album in Blantyre, it was now time for people of Lilongwe to experience Thirties.
He said PJ Powers will jet into the country today ahead of the launch.
“It will be a wonderful moment and I call on people to be part of this beautiful time and I am happy to have an amazing musician in PJ Powers,” Lawi said.
The album is Lawi’s third following up on Lawi and Sunset in the Sky.
“It has been a long process creating this album and the support I have been receiving is overwhelming,” Lawi, the creator of ‘Amaona Kuchedwa’, said.
His album has songs such as ‘Zitsulo’ and ‘Galimoto’.
Lawi has used music to tackle issues affecting society so as to bring about change.
“Music is powerful and I am happy to play a part in utilising my God-given talent to speak for the voiceless,” he said.
Lawi has also used his artistry to fundraise for needy students and he said earlier this year that part of the proceeds from the album would go towards supporting girls’ education.
