Lawrence Majawa claims hat-trick of titles
Former Be Forward Wanderers captain Lawrence Majawa has cemented his status as Botswana football legend after completing a hat-trick of that country’s league titles.
Over the weekend, the defensive midfielder—the last man to captain Wanderers to a TNM Super League championship in 2006—helped Gaborone giants Township Rollers to a second BTC Premiership title on the bounce.
Majawa also won the championship with Rollers in 2010 and 2011, reports www. townshiprollersfc.com.
“As the centre of excellence in the middle of the park, he is the right choice for every situation, possesses innate skills and ability to organise the attack, and provides killer assists for his teammates forward,” reports the Rollers website
The bow-legged midfielder was in the thick of things as Rollers defeated Black Forest 2-0 to secure the title with a game to spare at the National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday.
On Saturday, Rollers scored through Simisani Mathumo and Maano Ditshupo in the first-half
“Earlier in the season, I told my teammates that I would score a great goal when we need to win the league,” Ditshupo told the club’s official website.
Majawa joined Rollers in 2008 on the recommendation of his former coach at Wanderers, Zimbabwean Rahman Gumbo.
