Malawi Police Service (MPS) agents are investigating the death of lawyer Trevor Mphalale, who was working at the Ministry of Justice.
MPS spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed the development Wednesday.
He said Mphalale was found hanging inside his Area 51 house in Lilongwe.
“We are waiting for post-mortem results to establish the cause of death,” he said.
Director of Public Prosecutions Steve Kayuni described the death of Mphalale, who was working as senior State advocate in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, as “very tragic”.
Wednesday, Malawi Law Society Honorary Secretary Chrispin Chimwemwe Ngunde issued a statement in which he informed the legal fraternity about the State advocate’s death and funeral programme.
Mphalale was called to the Bar on December 21 2018.
