Lazarus Chakwera appoints deputy MDF commander

President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Major General Paul Phiri as Deputy Commander of the Malawi Defence Force.

This is in a statement which Secretary to the President and Cabinet Zanga-Zanga Chikhosi signed yesterday.

“His Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, in accordance with powers conferred on him under Section 191 (2) of the Defence Force Act, and His Excellency’s responsibility under Section 161 of the Constitution has appointed Major General Paul Phiri as Deputy Commander of the Malawi Defence Force. His appointment is with effect from 23rd December 2020,” Chikhosi indicates.
