Lazarus Chakwera dates Parliament

President Lazarus Chakwera is today expected to make his third appearance in the National Assembly to answer questions from members of Parliament (MPs).
State House, in a statement which press secretary Brian Banda has issued, indicates that the President will be in the august House during afternoon deliberations.
“Chakwera goes to Parliament in compliance with Section 89(4) of the Constitution, which is in fulfilment of his promise to govern by the rule of law,” the statement reads.
His previous appearances were in September 2020, when he responded to questions arising out of his State of the Nation Address, and in October the same year.
Government Chief Whip Kezzie Msukwa has appealed to the House to be orderly.
Due to Covid rules, 20 MPs each from both sides will be allowed to physically attend the session while others will follow deliberations virtually.
