President Lazarus Chakwera has introduced Presidential Annual Charity Golf Tournament aimed at raising funds to support needy students.
This was disclosed during the unveiling of the organising committee of the tournament at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe Friday.
The inaugural golf tournament is expected to take place at Lilongwe Golf Club on October 8 this year. Speaking after Chakwera met the committee, Presidential Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda said proceeds of the golf tournament would go towards supporting needy students.
“The President decided to establish a fund that he can use to reach out to some of the needy. One of activities is to mobilise resources through the annual charity golf tournament,” Kasunda said.

On behalf of the committee, Manda hailed Chakwera for the initiative.
