Lazarus Chakwera’s sister dies

President Lazarus Chakwera has suspended his public engagements to mourn his sister, Miriam Chakwera, who died Monday.
A statement from the State House, which the President’s Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda has signed, indicates that burial will take place on Wednesday in Manase Village, Dowa District.
“The President will resume his public engagements after the burial of the deceased sister, which will take place on Wednesday,” the statement reads.
The Malawi leader has been inspecting crops across the country as one way of appreciating the food security situation on the ground.
On Thursday last week, he visited farmers under Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa District, before holding a development rally in the district on the same day.
He started the crop inspection tours with the Southern Region, before proceeding to the Central Region.
He is expected to conduct similar exercises in the Northern Region.
