League awards ceremony on January 14
Outstanding players, coaches and officials for the just-ended TNM Super League season will be rewarded on January 14 when Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and league sponsors, TNM, host a gala in Blantyre.
Sulom general secretary, Williams Banda, on Tuesday confirmed that the gala is likely to be held at the College of Medicine Sports Complex or ‘Comesa’ Hall.
“We expect this to be yet another exciting red-carpet event. The dressing is smart casual. For a change let players come dressed in suits,” Banda said.
Bullets will receive K15 million, K7 million for runners-up Mafco, K4 million for third-placed Blue Eagles whereas K3 million is for fourth-best Be Forward Wanderers.
The best player will pocket K300,000 with and K200 000 for Golden Boot awardee. There are also other prizes for best goalkeeper, defender and coaching panel. Most disciplined team and supporters will also be recognised.
Meanwhile, the last game of the season grossed K5, 918, 110 on Saturday.
From the net, each team pocketed K1, 024, 460, with a similar amount being shared among Sulom, Malawi National Council of Sports and Football Association of Malawi (Fam).
Banda, yesterday confirmed that the league received K409, 784, Fam a similar amount and K204,892 for the Sports Council.
Fellowship Association of Malawi (Fama) received from the gross K415,000 for cashiering services, K40,000 went to First Aiders and K476,000 for security. Stewards and supervisers went home K870,000 richer. Another amount also went into ground levy.
