League leaders Big Bullets beat relegated Fisd Wizards, 2-0
Striker Chiukepo Msowoya bagged a brace as Malawi’s TNM Super League leaders, Big Bullets, eased to a 2-0 win over already relegated Fisd Wizards on a soggy Kamuzu Stadium afternoon on Wednesday.
Msowoya has joined Red Lions’ Innocent Bokosi as the league’s joint top scorer on 13 goals after netting on the 76th and 88th minutes, respectively—connecting substitute Ian Chinyama’s ball before converting from the penalty spot following a handball.
Wizards striker Hendrix Misinde had a goal ruled off side before Bullets finally found a way past an otherwise impressive goalkeeper Brighton Munthali for the rookies.
The win took the champions designate Bullets’ tally to 63 points with one game to wind up the season.
On the other hand, the loss left Wizards still bottom on 21 points from 27 games as they exit the top-flight league with two straight losses.
Wizards technical director, Peter Mponda, in a post-match interview with The Daily Times admitted that Bullets won the game “fair and square”, saying he had no regrets that his charges have been relegated.
Wizards and Airborne Rangers have been relegated with the identity of the third team to emerge on Saturday when Dedza Young Soccer and Epac meet in Lilongwe.
Regional Premier Division champions will replace relegated teams.
