Lending institution, Leasing and Finance Company of Malawi has donated K250,000 to enable Malawi Paralympics Committee (MPC) s t age junior national championship this Sunday in Blantyre.
The donation will help to complement K2 million annual subvention MPC got from government through Malawi National Council of Sports.
Leasing and Finance presented the donation yesterday at its Blantyre offices in the presence of the company’s senior personnel, including general manager, Michael Ngwira, business development officer, Fatima Majawa, and credit control officer, Sithembile Sisya.
Leasing and Finance business development manager, Uchizi Ngwira, said they received an appeal of assistance to go towards the championship which started at district level.
“We are pleased to donate the sum of K250,000 as sponsorship for the junior championship mainly towards the national finals of the running track events. We commend your efforts towards the young athletes and we wish you successful completion of the events,” he said.
MPC president, James Chiutsi, who was accompanied by some athletes and national coach George Luhanga, thanked the company for the timely donation.
Chiutsi said the junior championship would help the body prepare athletes for future international competitions.
“Leasing and Finance has come to our rescue and we appreciate them for joining Sports Council to support the championship,” he said.
