Balaka-based veteran musician Sir Paul Banda, brother to another legendary musician Soldier Lucius Banda, has recovered from the stroke which he suffered.

The singer and guitarist, who has contributed greatly to the growth of the music industry and creative industry as a whole through among others Imbirani Yahweh Studios, said Tuesday he has been ill for some time.

“I have been battling BP for the past two years and I have not been that well and then on January 21 I suffered a stroke. I am thankful to God that I am now fine although I am still recovering,” the ‘Malilime’ creator said.

He said it is not easy after stroke to adjust and that he has difficulties in walking.

“Despite that, I wake up every morning to do exercises. Things were not well after the stroke but, after some time now, things have got better although there are some side effects including loss of appetite,” he said.

The musician said he was okay and that he could speak and sing.

“I am just thankful to God that the stroke did not hit me badly. My hands are okay, I am speaking very well, singing very well and I am playing the guitar but the challenge is that I cannot stand for a long time,” he said.

He thanked Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife Michael Usi for the support after he heard about his illness.

“For a long time artists have struggled when they fall sick but things are changing and I am so thankful for the support I got,” he said.

The legendary musician, who has starred with Alleluya Band and his brother, has several albums to his credit.
