Lester Tandwe, George Chirwa conquer Beira Corridor

Seasoned golfers Lester Tandwe and George Chirwa teamed up to win the Beira Corridor golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club on Thursday.
The pair scored 49 points to emerge champions during a tournament that attracted over 50 golfers.
Chirwa said it was exciting to win.
“We complemented each other well as we were playing for fun and at the end we won. The tournament has been great in both organisation and prizes,” he said.
Harold Lungu and Nyakhoko Nsona finished as runners-up with 46 points while Stella Ng’oma and Mirage Mohammed ended on third position with 43 points.
In subsidiary prizes, Golf Union of Malawi President Hudson Kantwanje was rewarded for scoring the best points (40) in the men’s category while Ireen Mkundira netted 37 points to be recognised in the ladies section.
Davlin Chokazinga won the nearest to the pin accolade on hole five.
Cornelder de Mozambique- Beira Port Chief Executive Officer, Jan de Vries, said they wanted to interact with Malawi’s business community in a more relaxed manner.
“Golf provides us with a platform to reach out to our clients. We wanted to explain the importance of the Beira Corridor and how we can cement our relationship,” de Vries said.
