Lilongwe City Centre MP under fire
Member of Parliament (MP) for Lilongwe City Centre David Bisnowatty has come under fire from his constituents who accuse him of failing to develop Area 49, a residential place in his constituency
On Sunday, the leaders summoned the MP to alert him of their grievances regarding development projects in the area.
The call was a follow-up to a letter that the leaders wrote him requesting his intervention on some problems the constituents are experiencing.
According to the letter from all ward councillors and development committees of the area addressed to the MP, the leaders have bemoaned the pace of development in the area and has since demanded construction of roads and bridges.
“The roads and bridges in the area are in a bad state and there is need to upgrade them………Almost all the roads that we have in the constituency are impassable whenever it rains.
“You may also wish to know that the above issues have been outstanding for a long time now and that people are suffering because some of these things are basic needs that were supposed to be there,” reads the letter.
Bloc leader of Area 49 Sector 6 Hopeson Namuru told the constituents during the Sunday meeting that although the parliamentarian is in government, the constituency is facing a lot of challenges because government has no money.
According to Namuru, Bisnowatty told the leaders that he is aware of the concerns and promised that he will do something within 20 days.
Nine months ago, Bisnowatty also came under pressure from his constituents after revelations of inaction on Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
As we went to press Bisnowatty could not be reached for his comment on the matter.
