Limbani Simenti seeks to conquer with ‘Gwada Upemphere’

Gospel musician Limbani Simenti came to the limelight in 2012 having released his debut album Lungisani Impilo which has the hit Ndikuwoneni.

The musician showed signs of maturity in his music through his debut album but now after four years, the singer is out with his second album titled Gwada Upemphere.

“My debut album received much support from the people, of course, the CD did not make more sales compared to the DVD. But I can say it here that the second album is seven times greater than the first album and I have improved a lot,” Simenti said.

The title track Gwada Upemphere and Bwanji Mulowelelepo, a song which hits at those who are abducting and killing people with albinism are currently enjoying airplay in some of the local radio stations.

The 12-track album was recorded at Groove Magic Studio in Blantyre by renowned producer and musician Joseph Tembo and Dick Kankhunda at Wakankhunda Multimedia.

Simenti said he was happy the album has a song which has voiced concern about people with albinism killings.

Simenti said he composed Bwanji Mulowelelepo following the people with albinism killings in Tanzania adding that he never knew that killings would also come down to Malawi.

The gospel musician said having performed some of the songs in his latest album during different shows; it is now time to get down to the business of a launch.

He said the album has mature songs which, among others, carries the message of encouragement and hope.

Some of the songs in the album include Tonthola, which has a Sena touch, Mulungu Wa Nthawi, Aba Father, Usaope Ukalowe, Mundiyankhe, Tchimo Sabisa and Mbiya Kwa Woyiumba, a song which he has dedicated to his daughter and said it is based on a true story.

Simenti will launch the album at Blantyre Cultural Centre on Sunday before moving to Mlambe Motel in Balaka on September 4 and then Sheaffer ICA Marquee in Lilongwe on September 25.
