Limbikani Mzava back for Arrows
Malawi national football team Captain, Limbikani Mzava, returned to action at South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Golden Arrows on Wednesday.
Mzava, who missed the Flames’ trip to Tanzania a fortnight ago due to injury, manned Arrows’ defence when they came from behind to hold surprise PSL leaders Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Mzava’s compatriot, Robin Ngalande, was on the substitutes’ bench for Baroka, who are two points ahead of second-placed Arrows (14 points from eight games).
Siphelele Magubane equalised for Arrows in injury time to cancel out Sipho Moeti’s 15th minute goal for Baroka.
In another game involving Malawians, seasoned midfielder Robert Ng’ambi played for 80 minutes before being substituted for Zambian Brian Mwila as Platinum Stars held Orlando Pirates 1-1.
Pirates went in front through Captain Thabo Matlaba’s goal only for Bonginkosi Ntuli to level matters for Stars at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Stars are bottom with three points, 10 points behind third-placed Pirates.
On Tuesday, former Flames striker Atusaye Nyondo was on the bench as Bloemfontein Celtic saw off Cape Town City 1-0 at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
