Limbikani Mzava ruled out again
South African based defender Limbikani Mzava will miss Telkom Knockout Cup when his side Highlands Park take on Black Leopards at Makhulong Stadium on Sunday due to illness.
Mzava returned from a knee injury a fortnight ago, but he was dropped from the final squad for Highlands Park that lost to Supersport United 1-0, in the MTN 8 at Orlando Stadium last week.
However, the Flames defence pillar was hoping for a return to action this weekend in Telkom Knockout but this would not be possible as he is suffering from influenza.
Mzava confirmed the development on Wednesday saying he started suffering from influenza on Monday.
He described the development as a disappointment as was set to return to action.
“This is something else. I was happy that I am fit enough to be back in action but on Monday it was when I flu. Everything happens for a reason and I must accept that I will miss the Telkom Knockout match against Black Leopards. I am sure that next week, I will join my colleague as I am now feeling better,” said Mzava.
Meanwhile, other Malawians such as Gabadinho Mhango who plays for Orlando Pirates, Gerald Phiri Jnr and Richard Mbulu of Baroka FC and Robert Ng’ambi of Black Leopards will be in action this weekend.
Mhango’s Pirates will play against Stellenbosch in the Telkom Knockout Cup at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday while Phiri Jnr and Mbulu will travel to Lucas Molipe Stadium to face the MTN8 reigning champions Supersport United.
Veteran Flames attacker Ng’ambi will be in action for his side Black Leopards when they face Highlands Park.
