Lionel Asu promises more goodies
Be Forward Mighty Wanderers new catch Lionel Asu says it was important to score on his debut as he helped his new side overcome resolute Surestream FC in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
Asu replaced ineffective Jimmy Zakazaka at half time and with the game heading for a goalless draw, the Cameroonian striker acrobatically chipped the ball over Surestream goalkeeper Alex Makina for the games’ decider in the 83rd minute.
His finish was brilliant and it was welcomed by Nomads supporters who immediately started singing songs glorifying the Cameroonian import.
“It was important for me to score that goal. There was a lot of tension. So I had to settle the nerves,” said the forward who had a stint in Thailand.
Asu said his mission was to inspire Wanderers to lift the TNM Super League championship and other domestic cups.
“We have a good squad and I want to complement the efforts of colleagues by scoring more goals. Together we can win everything,” he said.
Nomads team manager Steve Madeira said Asu had proved that he was a wonderful addition to the team.
“It’s rare for a striker to score on his debut. Asu managed to do it in style. His goal has helped us collect maximum points otherwise Surestream were difficult to break, they gave us a good game,” he said.
