“The proceeds from this tournament will go towards our Education Grants Program which is responsible for needy students in various government secondary schools who are doing Form 1 to 4.

“Lions Club of Blantyre has supported an estimated 300 needy students in government secondary schools in the country. Unfortunately, owing to donour fatigue from our sister Lions Clubs in the UK, for the current year the Club needs to raise approximately K6 million to sponsor 200 needy students,” he said.

Makhecha said the club’s resources only managed to sponsor seven students at Stella Maris, Blantyre and HHI Secondary Schools this academic year.

He said the tournament would use 2BBB format to determine the champions.

“This is a best ball tournament in which the teams comprise two players rather than three or four players. In other words, it’s another name for a better ball tournament. And for good measure, if 2-Person Best Ball is played at match play, then it’s just another name for fourball,” he said.
