Lira faces Lulu in Blue Mingoli concert
TALENTED singer, guitarist and producer Lulu real name Lawrence Khwisa will come face to face with South Africa female singer Lerato Molapo better known by her stage name as Lira in the Standard Bank’s inaugural Blue Mingoli concert to be held in Lilongwe on October 24.
This will be another platform for Lulu to shine having announced recently that he was now serious with his music career.
Lulu famed for songs such as ‘Mbambande,’ and ‘Nzalera,’ will this Saturday commemorate his 10th music anniversary which will also be part of his career re-launch at Four Seasons Chameleone in Lilongwe. Standard Bank unveiled Lira as the headline act alongside Lulu for the first Blue Mingoli concert since rebranding from Joy of Jazz over the weekend.
Standard Bank Head of Personal Business Banking Margret Kubwalo-Chaika made the announcement during a curtain-raiser show at Chameleon in Lilongwe where Lulu performed alongside Mizu Band that backed its vocalist Eunice Kadzuwa Mhango and Nesnes.
“Lulu will curtain raise Lira because we want to make the concert relevant,” she said. Kubwalo-Chaika said they decided to pair the award winning female artist with a local artist to give people a full package worth appreciating.
“We will be announcing pre- shows in sequences and these shows will be in places where people that we are targeting resonate well with them,” she said.
She said they are now at an advance stage in terms of preparations and this is why they have been confident enough to unveil Lira to the public.
