The CCAP Synod of Livingstonia Education Department has donated 24 bicycles worth K1,212,000 to four education zones to help committees that support special needs pupils in the Northern Region.
The Synod’s Director of Education Reverend Timothy Nyasulu said the donation was aimed at reducing mobility challenges faced by the committees when moving around communities to identify special needs pupils.
“Let us accept that God gave us the physically challenged children. Let us not lock them up in the houses but send them to school to serve the country well,” said Nyasulu.
He then called on government to continue supporting schools with special needs pupils under the Synod as they are struggling to meet the learners.
Special Needs Project Manager Boniface Massah thanked the committees for their cooperation and love for the children.
He urged the committees in the region to avoid gossiping and backbiting for the good of pupils with special needs.
Chairperson for Mzokoto group, Safaya Mayuni, thanked the Synod for the bicycles and pledged his committee’s commitment in caring for the pupils.
