Lloyd Nkhwazi goes Awol

Dwangwa United’s pre-season preparations might be jeopardised as Coach, Lloyd Nkhwazi, has unceremoniously left for Blantyre following disagreements with the team’s Executive Committee.

Reports indicate that Nkhwazi was not happy with the committee’s decision to remove some players he recommended for the 2018 season.

Dwangwa Team Manager, Davie Mwandira, said he only learnt that Nkhwazi was in Blantyre.

“I cannot comment much on the issue because he did not inform us that he was going to Blantyre. When I learnt about the news, I called him and he said he was in Blantyre to see his sick daughter. So, our executive officials are handling the issue,” Mwandira said.

Reports indicate that three players, including Nkhwazi’s son Ephraim, were released by the committee despite that the coach had recommended them.

Nkhwazi confirmed that he was not happy with the committee’s interference in his job.

“How can I be drilling other players while my son has been fired? The player is not bad. He has played for the team before. So, I was not happy with that. But I am here in Blantyre to cheer my daughter who is sick. I will be returning to Dwangwa this week,” Nkhwazi said.

Nkhwazi, who saved Dwangwa from relegation last season, was not available during the team’s three-all draw against Airborne Rangers in a friendly on Sunday at Chitowe Ground in Dwangwa.

Nkhwazi, has been committed to the club. Last year, he snubbed a coaching offer from Masters Security.
