Malawi Property Investment Company (MPICO) says rental occupation of its recently opened Gateway Shopping Mall in Lilongwe is at 65 percent, describing it as a positive response to the property development.
This was disclosed during a valentine special event the company hosted at the mall on Sunday.
Gateway Shopping Mall marketing and business promotions manager, Ellen Nyasulu, said the mall will start hosting several events with intent to make customers have special experience.
“We are creating a unique shopping experience at this shopping mall,” said Nyasulu.
She said the mall is moving towards becoming a one stop center as new facilities such as a casino and bars will be added to the facility soon.
The valentine’s event saw customers winning various prizes for shopping on valentine’s day.
Nyasulu said for future events, the mall will bring more activities such as dances, games and competitions.
Malawi’s largest shopping mall cost MPICO about R400 million to construct and opened its doors to customers last year.
