Lockdown affects Mlaka’s 13th album
Renowned musician, Mlaka Maliro, has said his 13th album has been put on hold due to lockdown, one of the precautionary measures initiated by countries in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
Mlaka has been out of the limelight in terms of live performances and releasing albums. The last time he released an album was in 2014.
“I have been affected greatly by lockdown. I wanted to bring Collen Ali but I can’t for now until everything normalises,” he said Wednesday.
Mlaka, who used to do secular music before he turned born again, indicated that the songs were ready and that he was hoping that recording would start later this year.
“I have been in contact with Erik Paliani and Collen Ali so that we can record the album, Mlaka said.
On why it has taken him such a long time to have an album on the market, Mlaka, said he has been busy with the work of God.
The last album Mlaka released was He Is Alive which came after dropp Hosanna.
“I am now in Swaziland as the national pastor in-charge of all the churches here and pastors. But I have been in Western Cape and Limpopo in South Africa for four years,” he said.
Mlaka also revealed that he was in the process of working on a mash-up with Patience Namadingo before lockdown.
Namadingo has indicated in his previous interview with The Daily Times that he would do a mash-up with Mlaka Maliro.
The youthful artist has won the hearts of many people with his reggae mash-up project which has seen him working with Lucius Banda, Billy Kaunda and Black Missionaries.
