A love story has ended into a pool of blood after a 27-year-old man in Ntcheu District allegedly stabbed to death his girlfriend before killing himself using the same knife.
Police report indicates that 24-year-old secondary school teacher, Esther Kaputa, ended her love affair with Berief Banda two months ago prompting the ex-boyfriend to leave for Lilongwe.
He visited Kaputa in Ntcheu on Sunday to discuss their differences and travelled back to Lilongwe on the same day.
“On Tuesday evening, Berief came back to Ntcheu again. He proceeded to his girlfriend’s house where they spent a night together,” Ntcheu Police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, said.
Chigalu said on Wednesday morning, Kaputa’s brother called his sister to wake her up for work, but it was Banda who answered the mobile phone call that his sister would not report for work because she was ill.
When Kaputa’s brother returned from school at 2PM, he found the main door of the house locked from inside.
The brother to the deceased hooked the door keys from the outside.
“When this attempt finally worked and made his way into the house, he found both Esther and Berief in a pool of blood with stabbed wounds,” Chigalu said.
Kaputa hailed from Chipula Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Simlemba, Kasungu District while Banda was from Ngalande Village, T/A Njolomole in Ntcheu.
