Despite a poor start to the TNM Super League, Silver Strikers say they are eyeing the league’s championship.
The Bankers coach, Lovemore Fazili, over the weekend said he was confident in his squad after collecting four points in Mzuzu.
“We drew against Mzuzu University (Mzuni) and won 3-0 against Karonga United. That is not an easy task as teams such as Mzuni had [going into Saturday’s goalless draw] won three games in a row at home. Little-by-little, we are going ahead,” Fazili said.
Silver are on position four, one step below Mzuni. Both teams have 10 points each, and eight points away from leaders, Blue Eagles.
Silver winger, Thuso Paipi, who gave Mzuni a tough task with his dribbling and running, was voted man of-the match during Saturday’s game.
Paipi also fired the warning shots to other teams in the top-flight league.
“We started on a bad note, but other teams should know that we are not a bad team. We are here to retain the championship,” Paipi said.
